Tunisia taxi advice, how to avoid bad cars and broken AC? - Benjamin_Frost - 05-24-2026 Hello, everyone! My parents and I organized a gift for their wedding anniversary—a big trip to Tunisia in early July. We decided to fly on our own via Habib Bourguiba International Airport in Monastir, and we booked a hotel in Sousse. RE: Tunisia taxi advice, how to avoid bad cars and broken AC? - Benjamin_Frost - 05-24-2026 I’m really worried about the summer heat, because my parents already have a hard time with the humidity, and after the flight, we’ll also have to run around looking for a car. Last year in Egypt, we trusted a random taxi driver so much that his air conditioning broke down on the way, the windows jammed, and we nearly fainted in the sweltering cabin until we reached our destination. Can you even imagine such a coincidence? A trauma for life. Please advise on how to organize a reliable private trip in Tunisia so that the car is guaranteed to be modern, with a powerful, working air conditioner, and without drivers who smoke right inside the car while driving? RE: Tunisia taxi advice, how to avoid bad cars and broken AC? - DavidNight - 05-24-2026 It would be an awesome present for your parents, however the Tunisian July summer heat is quite unbearable, hence owning a well-ventilated car is really a health concern. Most of the time, the local taxi cars around the terminals are old, with their air conditioners broken, or the drivers deliberately switch them off to save fuel. As for me, I currently prefer to get my Tunisia transfers via GetTransfer only. I'm there often for work. While booking, you can select the car class, check genuine reviews, and also ask for a driver who speaks English. One time when I had my family with me, the vehicle arrived very clean and chilled. If you decide to book with them, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Btw, do you consider giving your parents a tour or eel Jem Amphitheater, or will you just stay on the beach in Sousse? |
