The opening scene was based off this YouTube video.  I was inspired by Tom Clancy's Hunt For Red October.  The book (& movie) "could've been real" in theory.  It was simply covered up by our government.  It felt so real when it was released that the CIA approached Clancy & asked where he got his information.  He told them it came from the New York City library!!

So, I was researching 9/11 when I started to write Thermite.  Physics professor Steven Jones was an influence.  So was Jim Marrs & Webster Tarpley.  I've read my share of Stephen King books & I've become interested in horror & dystopia.  Thermite isn't so horrific, though.  Not in my opinion.  When it got "too serious" in the early going, I added a comic relief android inspired by Jaime from Get Smart.

This is new to me.  I studied ecology in college & I'm well aware of climate change arguments.  I respect Jim Marrs for the views he had on aliens, JFK & 9/11.  I was watching a video where he said "global warming" is happening on Mars and moons of Jupiter.  Like I said, it's new to me.  He said there's something heating up our entire solar system.  Turns out, he's not alone in the belief.

This is the tip of the ice berg & I thought it was something good to chew on...
