Looking for unusual wedding bands

So it’s finally my turn to pick out wedding bands with my fiancée. We hit two chain stores last weekend and every band in the case looked like the one before it, plain gold with a slightly different width. She wants us to have the same style but not the exact same ring, and we both want an unusual shape or some kind of pattern on it, nothing classic. Neither of us has any clue where people even find rings like that. Where should we look?

Chain stores stock whatever sells fastest, and plain gold bands sell fastest, so of course the case looked like one long repeat. The odd shapes and patterns mostly live with small independent makers. I’d have a look at the independent jewelers on Etsy in your place. Plenty of them will make a pair off one design, with a different pattern on each ring.

Almost every pattern on a ring is borrowed from somewhere, Celtic knots or Art Deco lines for example, and the two look nothing alike.
