This is kind of a coincidence. Some of you know I play guitar and I sing, but I haven't played guitar in a few years. I was checking out YouTube a little while ago, and this popped up in my feed. It's a song I recorded almost 20 years ago. I recorded it on June 6, 2006. I remember the exact date, and I might explain why at a later time, but it's too much of a tangent right now. When I recorded this song, there was no video element to it. I had never heard of YouTube. I'm not sure it was around in 2006. Two years later, I got a home wifi hotspot, and I discovered MySpace, Facebook, and YouTube. I decided I needed an alter ego as a handle, and I created homercocktail in August of 2008. I was excited about YouTube, and I uploaded a video per day for about a year. I had already recorded a lot of music, and I was recording more as I went along. I didn't rehearse songs before playing them. Why? I'm not really sure, but I emphasized quantity over quality. I was a fan of other YouTube artists, and I subscribed to more than 200 channels. Most of these people uploaded a video per week, most of it acoustic music. This song, Believer, is one of my favorite songs I recorded. Like I said, I recorded it in 2006, but I didn't upload it until four years later. I'm a fan of Ozzy Osbourne, and when I started my AI Music thread here at Sheeple Gateway, the first song posted was a trubute, I Don't Know. All the recorded and AI-produced music I've put out are true renditions. I'm trying to put my own interpretation into it. I'm not trying to create a carbon copy. This version of Believer is no different. I like the haunting feel it came across with. I hope ya' like it! For the first minute, I'm tuning and setting up. You can hear me moving stuff around, and knocking things over. I love this lyric in the song: "You've got to believe in yourself, or no one will believe in you ..."
trying to figure things out ...
